A Brief presentation
As an art historian I joint a Ph.D. degree in Art History from Sapienza University, Rome (IT) and now I’m a full-time happy professor of Art History at the University of Arkansas Rome Program. I love my job as much as I love my study and my research, chiefly my field of expertise: women artists! Indeed, since 2005, I have been studying the history of women artists in the early modern time, focusing my attention principally to Rome and its environment. Se oggi conosciamo e apprezziamo le artiste del passato il merito è indubbiamente del movimento femminista statunitense che negli anni ‘70 iniziò ad indagare sulla loro plateale assenza in musei, ricerche, mostre e citazioni. All’inizio fu Artemisia Gentileschi, ma la (ri)scoperta di Lavinia Fontana, Virginia da Vezzo, Diana Ghisi e Isabella Catanea Parasole ci ha rivelato un Barocco affascinante, tessuto di vicende personali e produzioni talentuose. delle tante accademiche di San Luca. La celebre scuola d’arte nel 1607 ammise le donne nelle sue aule romane. Alle lezioni teoriche, però, non alla pratica… Questo e altro ancora ci racconta Consuelo Lollobrigida, storica dell’arte e docente fra Italia e Stati Uniti, indagatrice appassionata del genio femminile e delle differenze di genere nelle arti di ogni epoca.
